True success lies in repeatability—the ability to produce the same result time and again without unexpected deviations. This protocol establishes a set of critical questions designed to audit your process, ensuring that environmental factors, material aging, or machine wear haven't compromised the integrity of your output. We focus on the "why" behind consistency to prevent batch failures before they occur.

Consistency is the bedrock of engineering; without it, every part is a prototype and every assembly is a gamble.

Technical Protocol

To effectively review repeatability, teams should examine three core pillars: machine state, material stability, and environmental control. These questions serve as a diagnostic tool during batch transitions or when moving from prototyping to small-scale production. By documenting the answers to these questions, you create a "fingerprint" of your successful production state, making it much easier to troubleshoot when things inevitably drift.

  • Does the surface finish of the fifth print match the first print under identical lighting conditions?
  • Have the critical dimensions remained within the ±0.1mm tolerance range across the entire batch?
  • Is the mass of the parts consistent, or has there been a drift suggesting extrusion issues or moisture absorption?

Verification Criteria

Verification requires more than just a quick glance. It involves comparing the most recent iteration against a "Golden Sample"—the first approved part that met all functional and cosmetic requirements. If a part fails more than two of the questions in this review framework, the process is considered unstable. In such cases, teams should halt production to recalibrate the printer or dry the filament before proceeding with further trials.
